Coming soon to a theatre near you!

August promises to be a hectic month for Bollywood's marquee with some big, big movies scheduled to hit the screen. A sneak preview:

Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya

Bobby Deol and Aishwarya Rai in Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya
Producer: Sohail Malkai
Director: Rahul Rawail
Music: Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
Starring: Bobby Deol, Aishwarya Rai.

Aasha (Aishwarya Rai) wants an arranged marriage, but wants to check out the boy picked by daddy (Anupam Kher). Rahul Rawail claims there are no complications in the plot, unlike his last venture, the Shah Rukh Khan-Madhuri Dixit starrer, Anjaam which wallowed in violence.

Hero Bobby Deol's stock is soaring after the success of Gupt. Aur Pyaar... marks Miss World's Hindi film debut. And with Nusrat Fateh Ai Khan's soundtrack racing up the charts, the movie's prospects looks promising.

Release: August 15

Pardes

Shahrukh Khan, Apoorva and Mahima in Pardes
Producer, director: Subhash Ghai
Music: Nadeem Shravan
Starring: Shah Rukh Khan, Mahima Chowdhary and Apoorva Agnihotri.

An NRI father (Amrish Puri) wants an Indian bride for his son (Apoorva) and sends his adopted son (Shah Rukh) to check out the lady (Mahima) in question.

Pardes has all the Ghai elements, and a new leading lady whom he renamed with his "lucky letter" 'M' (Meenakshi, Madhuri, Manisha, remember?). Mahima used to be called Ritu Chaudhary. The love story has been shot in Delhi and Las Vegas. The music is yet to create a flutter in the market; this is the first time Ghai has dropped his favourite composers Laxmikant-Pyarelal.

Like Aur Pyaar... Pardes is a "clean" film. No revealing scenes. Sorry.

Release: August 8

Deewana Mastana

Anil Kapoor, Govinda and Juhi Chawla in Deewana Mastana
Producer: Ketan Desai
Director: David Dhawan
Music: Laxmikant-Pyarelal
Starring: Anil Kapoor, Govinda, Juhi Chawla.

A love triangle that becomes er.. a quadrangle. Director Dhawan found that both Kapoor and Govinda wanted to walk off with Juhi into the sunset. So he played Euclid and worked out another romantic theorem. All we can divulge at this stage is that two current hot favourites play cameo appearances. The flick should do well: David's corny masala has a huge following across India.

Release: August 15

Daud

Sanjay Dutt and Urmila Matondkar in Daud
Producer, director: Ram Gopal Varma
Music: A R Rahman
Starring: Sanjay Dutt, Urmila Matondkar.

Daud is Varma's third attempt at a reprise of Bonnie and Clyde. Kshnam Kshnam (Sridevi, Venkat) won Sridevi the best actress award, while The Great Train Robbery (Nagarjuna, Sridevi) ran into trouble with the censors.

This movie is about a Rs 20 million -- piffle considering that most amounts cited in Hindi films these days involve billions -- robbery, with Sanjay and Urmila on the run. If the movie's chartbuster Bhanware is any indication, Urmila is sizzzzlllliiing!

Release: August 22

Hameshaa

Producer: G P Sippy
Director: Sanjay Gupta
Music: Anu Malik
Starring: Saif Ali Khan, Kajol, Aditya Panscholi.

Star-crossed lovers (Saif and Kajol) are born again, only to face the threat of being torn apart. You guessed it, Panscholi wants to screw things up for the couple.

Hameshaa may revive Saif's ailing career; the Little Tiger hasn't had a hit in a looong time. Director Gupta too has to recover from his last dud,Ram Shastra.

Watch out for some spiffy special effects, specially a sequence that uses 3-D graphics to show an after-life experience.

Release: August 15
